I forgot to post some pics of the Coticule that's going to give me a nervous breakdown. Maybe you guys can make a guess and tell me where it's from? I got it from The Superior Shave.

If you want to see what the edge is like off a coticule, skip the Naniwa 12k.

If a razor has been finshed on a Naniwa 12k, it's going to be buttery smooth, and a coticule may not makei it better.

No two coticules are the same, so to see what yours is like, as mentioned above, skip the 12k and use your coticule as the finisher. Good luck.

For best results in someone familiar with the different veins telling you 'what it is' a side shot is the best bet. Shows the strata more than a top shot ...... IMHO.

I am quite sure it looks to be from Belgium

Honestly I have had at least three different guesses as to what vein my Coticule came from all three people are quite respected and quite sure they are each right... Obviously all three cannot be right, myself I think my Coticule is from a chunk of stone that works pretty darn good as a finisher If I wanted to use it as a lower grit stone I would use a softer slurry stone..
I have two different slurry stones and each creates a different type of slurry, when compared to what the DMT raises from the stone, and I rarely bother even using them...

It is a la grise. All the coticules being mined are from the la grise strata right now as it is the top strata of that mine.

    Want to do an experiment?

Send me the stone and a razor. I'll hone the blade on your stone and send it back and you test it. Compare the result to what you have come up with.

That sounds like a good idea! I'll send you the coticule, slurry stone and the razor I was using. I just set the bevel on it with my Naniwas, maybe you can give me some feedback on the edge? I think the toe needs a little more work.
