Years ago I was thinking about purchasing a kukri...what stopped me was the lack of information about the steel.

Pretty much just some Nepalese blokes sitting around heating up some high carbon railway iron over a pit forge fire and hammering the clappers out of it.

The blades all have the hammer marks in them. They do a damn good job really.

The reason I posted that link is that I am very interested in one & like any other newb...I don't want to purchase a boat anchor. I would plan to use mine more like a machete...but I would take care of it too. If you put Kukri in the search on the bay, you come up with all sorts of stuff that obviously isn't worth the shipping. From what I learned from KKH, I am more interested in a thinner, longer, full tang Kukri. What say ye?

To expand a little, the video made me think about the countless craftsman through the ages from around the world who have perfected their skills....I have the ultimate respect for them. In the modern world we are obsessed with names and labels...
