Yeah guys, I'm all with the Giuseppe ! If you ever need a french knife, PM us. Don't spend a million dollar on such things as Opinel or Douk Douk.

Thanked: 13My 'EDC knife' for when I'm out in the bush arrived today. Not the same as my urban EDC knife, that's for sure...
If I could get an Opinel #8 for $12 to $15 shipped in Canada, I'd be over the moon about it. They're about $17 at MEC.ca, but then there's shipping, which can really pump the price.
Maybe I'll check amazon.ca...

That's a nice size, I carry a small Maxpedition bag on my hip, so that will fit in just fine.

Haha, and good news Hirlau, it appears that you can even shave with an Opinel !
(Skip to 3:00, the lathering part is... weird. It looks like he's afraid of hurting himself with the brush. Or maybe he thinks the badger may bite him !)

This is just my opinion but I like my EDC to be thin. I spend most of my time in an urban environment and keep my knife in my pocket. Even though it is not as heavy the handle of the #8 is bigger than a roll of quarters. Uncomfortable and very obvious.
Here is the first link I ran across in a search.
CARBON BLADES, Opinel Carbon Knives
You could buy 5 of them to get over the $50 for free shipping.
