Thanked: 983It's all right mate I understand, but lets just keep this liking of me away from the touchy feely type of like I hear some of you blokes go in for...mainly in public schools I hear, which equate to private schools...Apparently, but seems really backwards all the same

Thanked: 983Well, I'm calling last drinks. I'm off to bed right after a cuppa tea. Catch you blokes on the dark side.

You should be safe for the first shave, which if you have self control will only be a few strokes anyway. Though I don't think many of us had that sort of control.
You dont have to buy a strop, people have used all sorts of stuff, newspaper in a bulldog clip, denim, belts etc, though your best chance of success (or variable elimination at least) would be to get something reasonable. Saying that I made mine, but could have bought one cheaper probably.Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

I have one with bone or ivory (it is a maze of cracks so not fancy) one with plastic and one with either plastic or something similar like bakelite (the Swedish one, I could probably find out easily but don't really care that much). The scales don't make that much difference to me, though if pushed for a favourite I would say the bone ones, but not by great deal. Its the shave that really matters.
Have you done a search for your razor, if it is a well known make there is probably some info on it here somewhere. If not you could start a thread, I personally haven't because again I am not really fussed.Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast
