    Thanks for the inspiration pixelfixed, I just found a chunk of scrap steel at work, app 4"x2"x1", took it to the wire wheel and belt sander now it's all shiney too.

    A small one, preowned, or from Harbor Freight, does come in handy. Looking for a hard flat area to tighten the scales on a razor. Pound a nail into a piece of wood without it going into the table top, flatten a bent key, etc.
    you need one.

    You do not need too,your pin will have dings in it no matter what,just mask over the pin to protect the scales,polish the pin heads with some 600 grit paper,done deal.
