Some before 'n' afters of recent stone finds, which cost me between £3 and £15, and came out of the wash rather nicely...

And then this little restoration project from the same market. Which I bought mostly because I have always yearned for the decollated head of The Bard gurning back at me in the mirror as I perform my morning ablutions. But then someone pointed out to me the scales were ivory, so that was a nice bonus - I didn't have any ivory handled razors before:

You certainly get about eh? Glastonbury, up country to Tavistock, then over to N Ireland which unless you flew, probably meant Hollyhead in Wales too, for the boat.

Haha... it's not normally like this I assure you, especially not in Aus. What was weird about the last few weeks was that I wasn't looking particularly hard, or having to trawl through a load of old SiC stones - each place we went just had one or two grubby old stones on the cheap, and they all tuned out to be gems. Frankly I have quite enough Washitas already, but you can't pass up an 8x2 for £3 can you! I should probably get round to selling a few at some point, to fund some more atoma sheets, and keep the wife happy .

Yeah I'm over from Australia visiting friends and family atm, so it's been a packed schedule - I was staying with my sister in Exeter for a week and then we flew over to see a friend in Belfast. I have done the ferry a few times though when I lived in Dublin, Holyhead's a weird place eh!

You surely picked up some nice ones. And a razor with Ivory scales that is not cracked is a major bonus.

That was one of the things that threw me off actually - they were in such good condition that I initially assumed they must be celluloid. It was only after someone on B&B pointed it out to me that I had a proper look when I got home, and realised they are indeed ivory. They also have a little more flex than I expected from ivory, but then they are very thin. As I say - the first time I'd seen ivory scales in person, so didn't really know what they felt like before.

Plus I'd quite fancied a GB Shakespeare for a little while, and most of the worst pitting is up on the spine, so hopefully I should be able to make nice .

Ivory is normally very thin and pinned collarless. I have a couple of cracks in my set but they sure are special to me ...

Very nice! Are those all different razors? Or a seven day set of the same? (Can’t really tell on my crappy phone screen!)
