Default Goodwill, Thrift Stores, Estate Sales and Garage Sales Finds

We are all aware of great, and not so great, finds uncovered at Antique Stores. I want this to be the place to showcase your finds in the places in the thread title. They are finds mainly because they were never priced at anywhere near their true value and we experienced that thrill of legally robbing someone or some concern of their true value. It is easy to have guilt feelings when you walk away with the item at a ridiculously low price but I assure you that changes to glee fifty feet away from that site.

I haunt my local Goodwill every Wednesday (senior discount day) and have over the past few years come away with the four shown here.
An Evelyn & Crabtree Scuttle cost me 75 cents (50% off the color of the day)

Not shaving related but a bit of nostalgia. An egg cup with the pattern of my Mothers fancy dishes brought out only on holidays cost me $1.99

I like the way you think. Unfortunately very little shave related goes through those stores locally. Hope springs eternal though.

Goodwill and any thrift store worth its goods have several people that go through all donations first and pull any item of obvious value. Goodwill has an auction site for those things. Don't know about the others businesses

Nice finds, I really like a animal bowl - the texture, feet, color - it's pretty darn cool! I have to remind myself to hit the thrift stores and goodwill more. I do like garage sales and as the weather turns warmer I will be going to those for sure. Things like strops, mugs and hones/sharpening stones can sometimes be seen out on the tables for sale, but in my experience you need to ask the person hosting the garage sale if there are any razors for sale. They tend to shy away from putting out sharp objects on account of kids picking them up.

Had a good weekend last summer in this category. Found the Aluminum handled brush at a thrift store in their "collectibles" showcase for around $8 and the blade bank, brush and Gillette silver plated "Big Fellow" at a garage sale for $7.

You didn't mention flea markets in you title so i didn't include any of those but it's always fun to treasure hunt there too!

Consider flea markets added. But in general, they are closer to the antique store category but more approachable on prices. Do like that Gillette!

You may not realize it but that last item is very familiar to me because it is really "The Holy Grail". I saw it a couple thousand years ago when Jesus and I...well you don't wanna know. You are now the richest guy in the world. Folks will pay billions for it.

What are you going to do with it?

    Love the pig bowl, Richard!
You must send that unclean thing to me!

Back in the day, that egg thingy was the shizzle. Imagine having that set before you. With a boiled egg in it, of course

Nelson, it is my mostly everyday now holder of the softly boiled Holy Ovum of lunch, replacing a totally plebeian cup of railroad ancestry.

Tom, re pig bowl. Remind me to tell you someday of my first ham sandwich.

Great thread!! Those are nice scuttles!

I rarely find razors at thrift stores, but i do find good stuff at estate sales sometimes like a Gillette Slim Adjustable for $6 I found last week and an Escher and Coticule last summer
