Wow, that's a lot. I now have 'decided' that I'll have six straights and a DE. Of COURSE I need more than three, what WAS I thinking! Mainly because everyone must be getting EXTREMELY jaded with me trotting out the same three razors in increasing bizarre settings for the SOTD post......

EXACTLY, Carlos. Show us some vacation pictures... "Here's my W&B wading at the beach, here's my W&B whittling on a branch, here's my W&B wowing a babe." Not to mention being held by various aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws. I've wanted so badly to say something; thank you for opening up yourself.

    Best wishes. Enjoy your springtime.

Hi roughkype, thanks for the comment!!! :-)

I just realised that SOTD is a very subtle marketing ploy designed by a very few of the world's richest professional photographers who are subjugating us peasants by luring us into using the money we would other wise use to fund a revolution to purchase razor upon razor upon razor so that our SOTD posts are more apealing than they otherwise would be...

You've already found your case and that looks beautiful. I was about to suggest you to make the case by yourself from cigar case. They come of various sizes and you get them for free at the tobacco stores. Here's mine:

I have seven but i would nicely get going with only one or two. I used to have Rad that luckily didn't last for too long. I had almost 20 but soon sold most of them away.
At least here the old timers did hone their own razors. As far as i know, there were not such honing services available. Of course their standards (or ideas how sharp razor should be) were little rougher than ours. I think most people wouldn't even have money to pay someone for doing things that were something that everyone should be able to do by themselves.

My only concern about using cigar boxes is that they are either lined or made of Spanish cedar that will hold moisture. No doubt the boxes are great for storing razors, I modified one myself until I realized they hold moisture to keep the cigars from drying out. So I went to Sears and purchased a wrench roll to store my razors and I have not had any problems with mositure affecting the razors' steels. Just my opinion for what it is worth.

That is an excellent point to consider!
Every wood unless sealed somehow will hold moisture. Some better than others. As far as i know cedar wood is used to store moisture for a limited time. Just like in cigar humidors, lined with cedar, you have to add distilled water from time to time to humidifier (???) to keep the humidity ideal. When they pack cigars in these boxes at the factory, they usually add extra block of cedar wood to keep the humidity stable until opened at the store. These boxes aren't meant for storing cigars for years.

I've ever had any problems with rust with my razors although i just wipe the blade with towel after shaving, strop few times at canvas and then put the razor into box. No protective oils or anything. I would imagine that if you take dry cigar case and put dry razors or dry anything in it, there is no way they could get moisture. If the moisture comes from the air, then it will surely get into plastic container as well, sealed or not.
I might be wrong as well, but based on my experiences this would be the case.
Thanks for giving something to thing about!
