    Default Shaver Case/Box

I've just bought my third (and I do think final) straight razor. I have a humble (though very nice) full hollow 5/8 Burrell (my first love), am about to get a W&B 4/8 with Canadian Maple scales (that I swapped for a larger 7/8 W&B with Abalone scales), and have now bought a nice looking 5/8 Emil Kronenberg Sen 'Edge Rite' (I loved the book 'Emil and the Detectives' by Erich Kästner as a kid, and couldn't go past this razor; and it does look very nice). That will be all I'm 'allowed' I'm sure (according to SWMBO Rules). I WAS going to get a Thiers Issard Beech box (V nice), but of course it only holds two razors. Does anyone have any suggestions for a three razor box or leather wrap type case? I'm not sure if I want a BOX or a leather wrap type case; either is probably fine. Any suggestions? I want it to be sturdy enough to take camping and anywhere else, yet I want it to be 'fine' and well made; not rough and ready...and no, I can't make one myself :-)....Any suggestions would be much appreciated, kind Sirs...

I can't help you with a box, but I think with "final straight razor" you've created the ultimate RAD oxymoron.

Yeah, I know, and I know it's a brave statement, but I'm not the sort of guy that collects (or can afford to collect) a lot of stuff. I tend to get a few nice things (vintage cameras, cufflinks, fountain pens) and move on; keeping and USING those few nice things I have collected, rather than collecting heaps of stuff...

Get a bigger box my friend. There is absolutely NO WAY this is your last razor purchase. Trust me. :-) :-)

Just buy a AlembiCase, it's got room for 7 straights, and you will have at least 7 eventually...

SRD has a leather razor roll - I have not used them but they look very nice (one is on my wish list). WhippedDog.com sells some homemade ones - I have one and it is quite functional. Or you can sew your own like I did (see http://straightrazorpalace.com/gener...ravel-kit.html). I know you said you don't want to make your own, but it really isn't that hard if you have access to a sewing machine. The version I made holds exactly three razors. :-) :-)

I have and use it. very nice and function's well. Plus if somehow 4 more razors find their way to your door you will have room!!!

Hi, thanks for the replies. A leather roll sounds like it could be the go, and as you say, IF (if) I DO get more, there'd be room...

I have actually found a three razor case, here:
Straight razor case - buy leather razor cases - leather straight razor case

But I like the Dovo case better. Now I need to decide:

    (a) Buy the Dovo case and keep one razor in its box, probably the Burrell, as it's the cheapest, and use it for, ummm, emergencies?
    (b) Buy the three razor case and keep all three in the case and rotate them
    (c) Find someone to make a three razor case very similar to the Dovo case, any ideas? Anyone have either of these cases and can comment? Does either case have room for desiccant?

How many razors do you guys actually use regularly? Is two enough (seriously, RAD and coveting aside), should I rotate more than two (seriously, RAD and coveting aside). How many razors did people USED to have, like in the 'olden' days? On another note, did guys in the 'olden days' hone or get their razors honed? Probably a stupid question, but I'm interested in the history...

Hmm, I'd go for a nice 7 day box - eventually a few more will Kropp up (oops sorry I meant crop). I started out with a few, then was given a few more, then acquired some more for xmas's etc..You get the idea lol. I have about 5 that I use though one is a travel razor with it's own case and the other is a SRP TI with it's own sheath. I generally keep all my loose razor (with in their respective boxes) in a couple of clear plastic boxes as they live in the bathroom (with silica gel packs inside).

Think I may need something shortly as I clean the others up and add them to my rotation (though by far not even close to the numbers acquired by other lol)
