Default My Shave Den and beginnings of a razor workshop!

I have been inactive here at SRP for quite a while and have been very busy. I am back in school, bought a house, and have a son due in 1 month and 1 day from now.

I am proud to say that I have been able to carve out few spots in SWMBO's house for myself. I claimed one of the rooms as my office/shave den/man cave. It has a bathroom attached to it so it is a perfect set up for me . And in the basement I have an area for my workshop. Right now it is a mess since I have no shelving or storage other than boxes and an old kitchen table as a workbench but it is mine and I am loving it!

And since without pictures it didn't happen here they are. The belt sander is a recent gift from my wife for no other reason than Harbor Freight just opened up in town and had a sale going on. The last picture is the first set of scales made on said belt sander.

I like that you have the hones displayed. The mirror is also great.

My parents found the mirror for me in an antique store and bought it for me as a Christmas present.

Gentleman.. The Shave Den. It's full of lots of goodies, custom razors and all batches of soaps, creams, lotions and balms. Poraso,Baxter of California,Kiehl's and AOS all in groups. The boxes up top are filled with hones and extra shave soaps and creams for replacement.

More of a Shave Nook. Mrs. Moo gave me a shelf opposite the sink. Quite a good arrangement if I keep the inventory low.

Phew... essentials. Thanks, Ni'blade. I doubled- (Proraso and Lucky Tiger after-balm) and tripled up (Proraso, Art of Shaving, Lucky Tiger cream; badger, horse- and boar's hair brushes) in the exploratory stages. I will probably end up a Lucky Tiger man 'cause I like the idea of a lucky tiger on my team. Now, Proraso after shave balm IS the bomb-balm. I pine for the vegetal the aroma and skin effect. Lucky Tiger mentholated disappearing cream will be used and disappear. There are a few more razors in the game than pictured. Two are honing practice dogs, one (a lovely Shaefer Rapid Shave/Solingen) is on deck for honing and the last, a stellar August Kern from an auction went to a pro. I'd already honed it and thought it shaved great but now's a good chance to compare my "tune-up" work to someone elses. Five razors, really. A lifetime supply, five good razors. I hope I live long enough to wear out all three brushes or, at least, pass a couple along. I am perfectly happy with either the Semogue boar or the Vie-Long horse brush and my Army coffee mug.

The brown six blade roll-up fabric pouch was an small indulgence; I own a sewing shop and had some Ultra-Suede sitting around - nice results, no investment. Free strops, too, from scrap. I mean, I LOVE straight shaving but I'm no where near going over the top. I do admire the work of collectors and restorers here but I'm only in it for the pleasure of executing a better shave and Mrs. Moo-approved cheek skin.
