Thanks for the show of encouragement...just like becoming reacquainted with an old lover (with the flame still smoldering) I tried a str8 shave yesterday WTG after the using DE the day before...got decent results with the str8 going WTG...tried going ATG today...really good results...the difference...taking a slight little bit of time to "mentally" slow down and making sure to strop before the shave...dunno if my stropping was being neglected or not...can't be sure but I "think" I was stropping before the shave...the total time spent shaving was nearly the same ATG as it was WTG but...I just had to get in the right frame of mind. My schedule has changed in that I have to be at work an hour earlier now so...in retrospect I was just rushing the process...certainly not smart with a str8 huh...lol. Anyway...thanks again...

Try shaving at night when all is quieter(hence my Moniker). Also maybe lay off ATG for a bit or use the DE for that for now.Baby steps.Good uck and as Lynn always says...have fun.

    Default Old Lover Returns...lol...

well...it's back on...lol...shaved this moring with what could "almost" be called a "ratty" str8 razor...it has a loose pivot, doesn't center, has blatant wear on the horn scales and has uneven wear on the toe end of the blade but DAYUM that thing gives a smooth shave...here's a picture or two...I don't know for sure if it's almost 150 years old or not (reference the 1865 stamp) but for a new OR old one this razor takes a wicked sharp edge

jaytongret...RAD is a comin' in your future...I told myself "I'll just get a couple of ratty str8's to practice my sharpening on and a good one for GP"...40 plus razors later I still find myself looking for others...seriously considering a TI, a Filarmonica NOS and Japanese str8...

thanks for the compliment Nightblade...out of necessity throughout life, I guess I've had to become faily adept at scrounging and scavenging and being able to make something out ot it...it'll be nice to put together a decent shave den once I wrap things up out here too

A veteran is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check, made payable to the United States of America, "for an amount up to and including my life".
