Just finished the matting and hanging the old Currier and Ives advertisement. Kind of finishes off the corner. It's a winter scene which is just ending up here in Maine. The wife will probably want something different there for the summer. I'll have to be on the look out for something appropriate. The mug in the picture is also in the cabinet.

    Default The Shavetorium

Here it is (again.) The "Shavetorium."

The Kochs barber chair came from Koske Barber Supply in Chicago during 1988. I had a client that I did an illustration for that included a barber chair. I told them I needed a real chair and they bought it for me.

The Cambell's Latherking has been in regular service now since November of 1970. All that's ever been done to it is a change of brushes from time to time and a good cleaning. The mixture is 1 gallon distilled water, a cap full of Gabel's latherizer cream, and a half tube of Musgo Real.

Behind the chair beneath the back bar is a towel warmer.

The barber bottles on the shelf are 8 ounce restaurant oil and vinager cruets. I had the knurled screw tops removed and inserted vintage Marvy stoppers. The labels are hand mede by yours truly.

The vintage lotion bottles on the upper shelf have been collected for the last 45 years.

The in-laws come here regularly for shaves and haircuts. It's my way of getting even.

I'm looking at all the pictures posted by the gang here. Every one of the dens are as orderly and clean as an operating room. So why to the ladies always accuse us of being messy? I will not display pictures of the women's room at my house.

There's something special about having genuine vintage barbershop cabinetry in ones shop.

4th grade was my favorite year of school, I had the best teacher. Our classroom walls were covered with Norman Rockwell and Currier and Ives. For that reason alone, I have to give my vote to Karlej. Love the style of it!!
