Mushies - mushroom, just like in the picture, well unless your mushy peas look really weird in America.
My first guess about mushies would be potatoes!

Yeah, I had my first good sleep for about a week last night, and subsequently my bluntness seems to be re-emerging, I should just stay perpetually tired and silly.
Why on earth people eat mushy peas is beyond me. But as long as I don't have to eat them it's all good, in actual fact the more of them that you eat the less chance there is of me encountering any.

Ed knows what you were talking about. He was just trying to be funny and suggesting to an uncooked and rotten type of mushy potato. I like to call Mashed potato's, Smashed potato's...And Mushy peas in (as opposed to on) a meat pie just can't be passed up. Or a yummy Cottage pie with smashed taters on top instead of a pastry lid....Mouth is waterin' at the thought of all those yummo pies

Yes, mashed potatos are great, but mushy potatos, whilst probably the same don't sound anywhere near so appealing.
I used to watch a tv show as a kid called bodger and badger, badger loved mashed potatos
