Never had fried corn meal mush.

Scrapple or a similar thing Grutzwurst I grew up with. The mostly german heritage area that I grew up in that is their version.

I had 1 1/4 cups of grits and thought it would be a fun experiment. Maybe if I formed it in a loaf pan and sliced it before frying it might work better???

I am certainly not at the cooking level of a grandmother that has used leftover grits for years!

I'm not my grandma, and my mother wasn't all that, in the kitchen. I've fended for myself for the most part. Trial n error, and the quest for scrumptious vidles made from whatever's available. Knowing old school cooking goes a long way, with today's grocery prices. Sucks spending more time in the kitchen to prepare meals, but the eats are worth it. Food hasn't tasted this good in years, now that I'm doing more from scratch and leftovers.

Much more of this failing economy, and I believe the dreaded casserole dish might become a thing, once more. No more tuna n noodles though, I'll find something fresh along the roadside. Oh....and I have before. That fresh hit pheasant was great.!

Breakfast can be anything you want it to be. I don't believe in brunch anymore.
In fact, I love breakfast for dinner!³
