Think of a normal drip maker stripped of all of the non-essentials (timers, lights, built in grinders) and beefed up versions of all of the essentials (heating element, thermal carafe with a glass liner). I use Mr. coffee too. I never fill up to 12 cups anymore, I have found the the best pot is at most 10 cups, and you dont have the annoying spill like at 12 cups. Makes good coffee. Then I also have an espresso maker if I feel like makeing some fresh ground coffee shots.

we have a few here I admire, I would like to roast my own and enjoy but life gets in the way.
That being said, I do use a French Press when time allows but for the daily grind (and yes I do grind fresh) a Bunn has been my go to.
It makes a good cup O'Joe and takes just shy of 3 minutes.
I just had to replace my first Bunn last Christmas, it had been in service around 20 years and in my house 4 pots is a light day.

I like a drip pot. The hot water goes through the grounds once and that is all. A Mr Coffee is the simplest and trashing the filter is not a bummer.
A Vac pot is next best; again, the water goes only once through the grounds, But, it takes watching unless its an old electric one.

The old Sunbeams are great if the seal around the Upper section is still good. Usually about $10-$20 at an Antique store.

A Moka pot is my go to for the summer months when a !Kw flash boiler in my espresso machine is a bit much for the air-conditioning to have to handle.
