Lynn, my wife and I just got one a month ago. Which model did you go with? We went with the shorter model Creations II, because of limited space. I can't tell you how great I feel getting WAY more vitamins both from fruit and green veggies than I was getting before. I need to do a better job replacing meals with it (I could stand to lose a few pounds, well, more than a few actually) and I'm no where near running 3 miles a day, but getting better nutrition is a great start. We have mostly just used the recipes that came in the book that comes with it, so if you come across any that you really like, pass 'em along! IT could even be a new AD!

Lynn,
I found a book on Amazon that has tons of recipes for juicers.
You can find it here...

Thanked: 4942We got the re-conditioned C model 6300. It is the one that my son recommended. Maybe a little more healthy eating with all my bad habits will prove to be a good move. I won't be running at all with the metal hips, but the elliptical is still on the agenda.
Are there any recipes from the book that you like the best?
Thanks.

Thanked: 37I have one for about three years, a lot can be done with it. Sometimes I boil the oatmeal till it's done, then it goes to the Vitamix and add a sliced apple, walnuts, maybe cinnamon and blend it till its really soft. You can make great smoothies with a protein powder like Spiru-tein and add bananas, peanut butter, almond milk, etc. A favorite is one papaya, just the pulp, no seeds or skin and milk (I use soy or almond for this) honey and a dash of vanilla.

Thanked: 3795I've had one for 20 years. When I got my wife 15 years ago, she really liked it and used it all the time. Unfortunately, there are some things we don't share well and after a while I decided it made more sense to buy another one rather than repeatedly going on the verge of arguments over the thing. So we both had our own and I thought marital relations were safe. Unfortunately, she developed a habit of leaving sundae spoons in her blender...
So she took mine while I waited for replacement blades to arrive.
I love my wife, but then she left another spoon in her blender.
So I waited for replacement blades to arrive...and she misplaced the blades when they came in the mail.
So I waited for the another set of blades to arrive... and she lost them too. Worse, during one of our many moves a few years ago she lost the blender too.
I still love my wife, so she is still using my VitaMix and just yesterday I unpacked a stupid Ninja blender I borrowed from my brother. Finally after three years I can use a blender again and someday I will find my missing VitaMix!
The VitaMix is great for healthy juicing that retains all of the fiber of the food. This keeps you from overdoing it with concentrated sugars from juicers that remove pulp.
I don't bother with recipes. I just use a mix of frozen and fresh fruits and vegetables. I generally don't mix the two and the vegetables are lower in sugar. I just throw in whatever the mood strikes me and use a lot of it from pre-cut stuff from the freezer. This helps to keep the smoothies cold without ice cubes and allows for more extended use of food that is used in small proportions and doesn't keep well. Also, it allows for faster prep by using a lot of pre-cut frozen stuff.

1 banana, half an apple, 1 cup of almond milk, half a cup of frozen blue berries or substitute with strawberries. Yummy.

Thanked: 3795Uncooked oatmeal can easily be hidden in a smoothie.
