It's just a picture I found online when Nightblade posted about Gimli and the mead and red meat. From what I can see I'd guess deer or such.

I come from a rural (farm family) and enjoy my four and two legged protein consumption. I also don't care what pork is classified as as long as it's on the plate and ready to eat.

When I moved the 35 miles from Dayton to Walla Walla back in '80 I would never had thought of asking someone if they ate pork before asking them to dinner as I hadn't known any Jewish people nor did we have Seventh Day Adventist that I knew. However that changed once I'd made the move. There is a large SDA population here and I'd asked a gal to my home for supper but when she found out that I'd fixed pork chops she said she couldn't eat them--well that left out the gravy so we ate out.

I too have noticed how many medieval movies have guys gnawing on something like a turkey leg (as they are almost always quite large) but there was a movie made in the 80's called 'Beast Master' and if memory serves there's a scene where the main character is gnawing on a roasted lamb shank (front leg of a lamb) as it was huge.

My dad said that he'd once seen a bear skinned out and hanging and that it looked like a human being--so he never ever ate anything made of bear meat.

    Enjoy the home delivery/take out!

In a few weeks there will only be about 18 fruitcakes 'cuz I'm eating 10 of em!

I'm the other guy who loves those damn Claxton's fruitcakes. Sadly, I never saw any around in stores this year-somebody else must have bought that one they put out for me to buy. Oh, well, maybe next year. Happy New Year whatever you eat, men!

They are available on the Claxton site, but Amazon has them for a more reasonable price.
I got mine with free shipping.

I think that they are available year round.
Wa'ja bet the prices go down after the holiday season?

My mom would make one, soak it in brandy, wrap in cheesecloth, rest it for a bit.

    It was great!
I like that too both for the fruitcake and sometimes myself minus the cheesecloth part heh. But for reals.....soak that sucker !
