There will only be two of us here this year, so we're doing a slow roasted Prime Rib Roast with my special beef rub (Herbs de Provence, unsalted butter, fresh cracked pepper and a touch of garlic); Yukon Gold garlic mashed potatoes; and a green bean and bacon casserole. Dessert will be a surprise from my wife's annual baking marathon.

My two youngest children and their families will be here at The Boars Nest for Christmas Dinner-Served around 1 pm so they can also be elsewhere for later suppers:

Baked Home Cured Picnic Ham (cooked on the Traeger)
    Mashed Yukon Gold Potatoes
    Ham Gravy
Green Beans with Onion and Bacon in sauce
    Irish Soda Bread
    Butter
    Assorted homemade Jams and Jellies
    Martinellis Sparkling Apple Cider

    Pumpkin Pie
    Homemade Whipped Cream for Topping

However the two youngest and families and myself will be at their oldest sisters for Christmas Eve Supper. I'm providing the dessert--nothing like a Spotted Dick.

One done and one steaming on the stove as I write:

Just the ol' lady and me this year. Headed out to the Black Bear Diner. Good old American food and no mess in the house. Then to bed for work in the morning. Work tomorrow morning too. As soon as people stop buying gas for a day the fuel industry's can shut down for a day.
