Thanked: 198night, you are very correct, i have become one of you. i am now looking at saveing some money up to order a pu erh tea cake, from 2004, truely want to try some of the more aged stuff, and i have another pound of lapang souchong on order, have a question for all though, when you make tea, how much do you use for say a 18oz pot, i may be using way to much

Thanked: 983One (rounded) teaspoon of tea for each cup and one for the pot is the normal way to make tea. So how many cups does your 18 oz pot fill?! Take it from there and adjust your amounts from that point 'til you get the tea that tastes just perfect for you.

Thanked: 198also, if anyone is interested in doing a swap of teas, to try different ones, maybe we can get something started, i was reading a site that suggested trying different pu erhs from different mfg's to get a feel for the different undertones and textures out there.

Thanked: 198well that depends on what size cup we are talking about,i use a 9 oz cup currently, but have an 11oz mug on the way, but if the standard is 6oz then i would use 4 tsp to the pot

Thanked: 1160Gotta make this quick as I'm heading out for work.I would say roughly about a tablespoon per cup,and one for the pot.My teapot is probably about 1 1/2 qts. and I use about 3-4 tea bags per pot which is a nice brew. How ever..........Guys,just in case you are interested.Go to samovardepot.com . I myself am looking into this as you can control the strength of tea to you liking with these.See my post about a page or two back on that subject. Also look up Russian samovars. The Russians take their tea drinking very seriously and are close to the top consumer of tea in the world believe it or not.Gotta go now ,hope this helps .Gotta shave and finish m'tea now.......
