Here's the first of several, straight into the packet. Now how much of that do you reckon I need to put into a stove-top kettle so that it's not too weak?

So I kinda just shoved some into a 6cm tea ball...although I'm making quite a lot, I may not have needed quite as much but it did the trick. The tea tastes just like it smells! It's very woody (that'd be from all those twigs, I'd imagine) and almost smokey in flavour but is got a really nice rounded sweetness.
Really pleased that I bought it and I'd definitely recommend it, especially if you're not a massive green tea drinker, as it's quite dark and I'd say has characteristics similar to a souchong...but not. I'm not sure what to do as far as re-steeping is concerned. I reckon I'll try and reuse this first lot and see how it turns out. If the second pot tastes shite then I'll know to just chuck it away!

Loony,
That's a cool place, (Berkeley Spring), when I first saw you had mentioned it, I did a double take; as Berkeley Ca is about two hours from me. Well, your spring is about 3k miles from me, too far to drive!! I see though that it's a warm spring, something I always first associate with salt, sulphur and high dissolved solids. We have a few spots out here that have hot springs, you know when you are getting close, you can smell the fire and brimstone. Not sure I'd want to brew tea with it.
Heck Loony, you're in West By God Virginia!! Find someone making some shine out in the woods and see what crik they're gettin' the water from!!Silence is Golden, but duct tape is Silver.

Brewed for a second time. Slight loss in flavour and the colour is lighter...kind of what you'd expect. It's still good though; not sure I'd do it a third time though.

Thanked: 198Re: Tea anyone ??!!
i actually have a spring up on a mountain closer to the house, but its just a couple of pipes commingle out of the ground, i posted a pic of it some time back. the springs in Berkeley springs are much more of a tourist attraction than anything else but i do need to make it over there and see my friend.

I'd go with the pipes coming outa the ground!! By all means visit your friend, everyone should keep their friends close!! You need to go to the pipe in the ground, take a single burner Coleman and a pot and brew some tea on the spot. That way the water won't get "bruised" by the ride back, and of course, post a picture!!
