Thread: Tea anyone ??!!

These green leaves posted by PigHog seem very nice and healthy.
Actually, I am going to buy some green tea right now, or at least an Oolong, since I am not a big fan of green teas.

Myself, I recieved a nice package today. 2 new puerhs, a 1999 beeng cake and a 2000 brick. Especially the cake has some wonderful aromas, floral like, I am really looing forward to trying it. I'll post about it when I do. Meanwhile, here's the eye candy:

That's some cool packaging. How long does that much tea last?

Humm, how long does it last.. I am not sure really, I drink several different teas and so it's hard to say. I know I've gone through well over a kilo of puerh since christmas, but I do drink a lot of tea The brick is 250 grams/close to 9oz, and the cake is 357 grams/12.5oz.

This morning, like usual, I made some puerh. I used around 8-10 grams of tea in the pot and have been enjoying it all day. 6 steepings, 300 ml cups. That's pretty much the limit for this particular puerh. Some others I only steep twice.

A key of pu erh!? That brings a very interesting mental image to me. I get searched EVERY time I go through an airport anyway,(too much metal in the old body). I can just imagine them drooling when they would find a brick of some compressed plant material in my baggage!! I brought back about a key of sea salt from Kauai a few years ago, it was given to me by one of the guys who's family has been making it for generations and it was just in a simple ziplock bag. I was going to have my daughter bring it in her carry on, let her be my mule, but they didn't say a thing. I still got the pat down though.

Actually, there's probably a load of flavour contamination from that kettle. Maybe if I try boiling it in a pan instead, it'll taste better...

2013 Kagoshima shincha saemidori:










The cup isn't great for showing off the colour but the first steep is rather pale and also has a nice light taste, though it has a very mellow sweetness.




This is the second steep, which has a much more characteristic, deep green colour. Again sweet, yet light and smooth, and not overpowering at all. This is a great tea and I managed to get five steeps from it this evening, before I didn't want any more tea, though I'm sure it's possible to get an additional steep or two—definitely worth the little extra money!
