Well, I will find out soon enough. If it doesn't work out, It'll find some other purpose. There were many others to choose from but I wasn't ready to spend as much as many of them were asking. If its an improvement over what I used last time, I'll call it a victory.

I found this, morgan pitelka : yunomi, guinomi, chawan, senchawan, banchawan, matchawan. I emailed the author asking him/her to have a quick look at our discussion and perhaps explain what I bought and how it was meant to be used. We'll see if an expert opinion clears matters up......and if I'm still in the market for a new bowl for my matcha. LOL

No pic today....very busy working. But I did take a minute to prepare another Matcha. I did something better this time. I still lack the right vessel....hopefully its on its way right now. But I measured the water and tea very carefully, sifted the powder, and whisked it a little longer and more vigorously. It was much better. Less gritty and quite good. Espresso of the tea world, a small intense cup of green tea. A nice treat.

I filled a travel mug with Keemun this morning. This is the last from my tin. I'm currently shopping for a replacement. So many good choices.

There really are. Now that I've found a few good choices and vendors I can see that. I've been buying smaller amounts so I don't have too much of anything that is getting stale or keeping me from trying others. I'm finding that the green, black, and pu ehr to be my favorites. But there are still many I have not tried. I'm waiting for some Verdant teas to arrive that are part of their fall harvest teas yet to arrive from China. I appreciate the freshness of their tea and the specific farmers they work with. But I will be trying some sencha suggested to me earlier sometime soon.

The postman arrived today with my chawan. So I tried it out. I don't think its too small to make matcha. Here are a few pics. I have a measure and placed the whisk next to it to give an idea of its height. It seems to be ok.

That's a really nice chawan. It is rather conical...just means that you have less whisking room.

I think I'm chawan shopping when I get paid...

Also, I'm quite impressed with your awa (foam). Looks nice and thick and not too many larger bubbles.

I have a feeling the quality of the matcha plays a part in how easy it is to make but yeah, good stuff!

EDIT: This is a good video:
