    Thumbs up

    1st grade jasmine tea.

This jasmine tea consists of green tea grown in Taiwan and is scented with jasmine petals multiple times. A typical grade of jasmine tea will be scented once. The green tea leaves used as the base are young as indicated by its small, slim needle-like leaves.

It has a sweet floral scent with green tea undertones, sweet and refreshing taste, and a lingering aftertaste that is delicately sweet.

I brewed up some Assam leaves with a pinch of Lapsan Suchong over lunch and filled up the travel mug. I'll really be enjoying it after my cold, wet walk back to work.

I drink green tea, long jing and bi luo chun in the spring and summer, both grown locally. For the fall and winter I drink black teas, jin jun mei usually but zheng shan xiao zhong too sometimes, both of which come from Fujian. I get a nice organic jin jun mei that keeps a nice golden color, no matter how many leaves you put in; most black teas brew red or turn red with enough leaves or a long enough brew. Also I sometimes drink wu long and tie guan yin in the colder months, but I prefer black teas. I've uploaded a pic of a couple of my handmade yi xing tea pots as well. The reddish one is a shape that has been in use since either the han dynasty or qin dynasty, I forget which, and I use for black teas. The green one is known as the "gourd" shape, a style of about the same age, and use for green teas.

This afternoon I'm having Oolong tea with honey. I'm trying to kick a cold and drinking a lot of tea.

As a green tea snob, I am embarrassed and my wallet is delighted to report that the Bigelow Green tea in the office break room is actually pretty darn good!

It tastes virtually identical to an excellent "jade pouchong" I overpaid for in Singapore.

The Chinese will swear you shouldn't drink tea with a cold... I usually do anyway, but I get an earful when they catch me doing it.
