Shipped yesterday...
To be fair, I wasn't planning on doing shincha this year. I keep spending loads on tea and whisky and bike parts, so I've been trying to stick to a lower budget. I've got no sencha left though, so obviously I went to have a look and ended up with the most expensive tea on offer in my basket...
I only bought this and one other, cheaper tea, so it's not that bad but I couldn't turn it down.

Flavour profile was as I last remember saemidori—light, grassy, almost citrus type notes; further steeping develops a flavour like watermelon rind. Being hand picked, it feels more delicate but I don't know if that's not just the difference between two years or two tea gardens or what...
Colour is, well...green.
Paired with sakura daifuku, which may have needed eating sooner as it didn't seem as soft as the other ones...
I just found this thread, I did not ever think that so many of the members drank tea also. This is so cool. I have been on a silver tea binge. Silver needle, silver Vin Zhen pearl, and jasmine dragon pearls have been my go to's for the last three years. But I still love me some Mavis Bank and those single estate Blue Mountain Jamaica just to mix it up a little.
Mi Lan Xiang Dan Cong Oolong
(Honey Orchid / Royal Peach Orchid)
What a great tea!
Spring picked from the Wudong, Guangdong mountains in China at 1200 elevation.
Very smooth, very juicy, very fruity. Peaches and plums with honey. And an ocean of antioxidants!
I think I will skip lunch. I don’t want to lose this wonderful aftertaste from my mouth.
Cheers !!!
