Yes, I have seen and experienced that. The quality tea has gone away and the price has gone up.

What I had done for years is make a pot of tea and thermos it to take to work. The next successive days use the same leaves for the length of the period the leaves can be brewed. What I have tried recently with interesting results is cut the amount of leaves to a third, quarter or whatever amount of successive brews I can get as well as the water by the same amount and brew it in my small tea pot instead of the large one then pour each brew into the thermos.

The effect has been somewhat like blended tea as opposed to single estate tea. It has a more uniform character which is a mix of the characters of the successive brews rather than drinking them each individually.

How do you store the used leaves from day to day.

I have always tried to get as much moisture out as possible, shaking them out leaving them for a while in the strainer and leave it in the pot unless it will be more than 24 hrs in which case I refrigerate them. It will be interesting to see if that is what the video says

Interesting video. Not entirely scientific but still reliable enough I think. His methods were all a little different from what I do but it is interesting that he too found getting the leaves dry seemed to work well. I may have to experiment with that more. By the way the cast iron pot is not what I use for this method. Only the smaller one or the hybrid brew that I described earlier. I use a ceramic teapot.

Sweet! Never bought a whole cake before or even seen one in person. Now we know where all your money goes.

    Enjoy! I know I would.

I know what you mean and you are right! A cake like this could easily cost 500euros or more.
    But check this out:

And it is a good Pu Erh cake

I haven't ever gone for those strange teas, I am a cuppa lover (English).

I keep reading how some of you are into that stuff and it has piqued my interest, I did used to get tea from teavanna because i could taste it first. I used to get blends or teas infused with various flavours.

The Pu-erh Tea that they have a big ol cake of on Amazon for about $25 seems pretty affordable. It is being sold as either ripe or raw so my first question is - what?

My second question is how do I use the cake if I decide to buy it, do I just break a chunk off?

My 3rd question of course is, what does it taste like and do i add sugar and milk like my Tetley?
