Bowmore is a great scotch. I had the pleasure of tasting some at a Whiskey and Scotch bar in Kalamazoo, MI called Winston's. I really need to expand my collection but my wife says I need to drink what I have first. I guess she is right since I am the only one who drinks it in my house and a bottle can last me a year or more since I don't tend to drink more than once or twice a week.

My go-to bourbon for mixed cocktails is Maker's Mark. One shot Maker's (usually just a generous pour), a splash of Extra Dry Vermouth, a splash of Sweet Vermouth, a dash of Angostura Bitters, and two cherries to garnish (usually a wee bit of the cherry juice too).

    I didn't have any.

However, I do have a question for you gents. Have any of you tried Shakelton's whiskey (Mackinlay's) blend? Also, has anyone from the US purchased it? This is the scotch that was blended based on the cases left behind by the Shakelton Antarctic expedition back in 1907-ish and there are only 50,000 bottles made. I can't seem to find a company in the US that sells it and all overseas companies ship via Royal Mail which converts to USPS in the US and it's illegal to ship booze by USPS in the US.

    Anyone?

Like everything else I have posted in the forums, I am relatively new to Scotch. I decided to give Laphroaig a try based on good reviews. Wasn't ready for the smokiness/peatiness...WOW! I tried it neat and then had to add a couple rocks and it grew on my. Definitely an enjoyable Scotch, but I'm still more of a Balvenie guy!

I do believe that is the only way scotch should be enjoyed, that and with a fine cigar.

Why doesn't the taco truck drive around the neighborhood selling tacos & margaritas???
