Bought a bottle of Wild Turkey Rare Breed for Friday's pre-Christmas Poker Night. Best value in the LCBO, which just released a Brewer's Advent Calendar (7 days LATE, but that's typical).

I want a bottle of Elijah Craig Barrel Proof, and one of Col. E.H. Taylor Four Grain. Both currently listed as "sold out" on the LCBO site. It's enough to make me want to drive to Buffalo . . .

I hope its fine to share yesterdays whiskey. Ended a great shave with a Bunnahabhain m๒ine. In my opinion it has a great taste, alot of smoke and was perfect yesterday after some rough days at work.
Also like the Talisker 10, and Laphroaig 10. Got a few others I really enjoy, but I save them for another day.
I always drink my whiskey no ice, room tempered, sometimes I ad just one drop of water. Should bring the taste out, not sure if I can taste the diffrence.

I love how different we all are. The sweet is why I finished the bottle and won't buy another. I like plane old Makers Mark & anything that has a nutty & vanilla undertone...just not much on sweet. Same feelings on Pendleton, that one is really sweet...no undertone, sugar sweet.

And this is why Whisky is the King of Spirits. All manner of flavour expressions are possible, depending on grains, barrels, finishing casks, etc. For myself, I am interested in ALL the variables at this point, mostly because I enjoy writing up the reviews I share here. I think my favourite Bourbon so far, has been the Woodford Reserve, or the Four Roses Small Batch, but it's really hard for me to settle on just one yet. I still have this Rare Breed Old Fashioned warming my belly, and I have not tried the Eagle Rare 10 yr old yet. Favourite Canadian Whisky to date is Wiser's Dissertation, closely followed by the G&W Little Trinity.

All right . . . I am going to throw this out there for we gentlemen in the GTA/Southern Ontario region. would there be any interest in getting together for a "tasting party"? Each participant brings a bottle to be shared (or cigars to be enjoyed), and we spend several hours ruminating on the joys of the aqua vitae. No one needs to get hammered . . . particularly with the distances some might travel, but a few 1/2 ounce drams over an extended period should not trouble anyone overmuch. Thoughts?
