You guys should open an audio thread. I suspect there are quite a few enthusiasts. I used to build kits when I was in High School and speaker enclosures. Don't buy much these days just maintain what I have.

Apologies for the super crappy cell pic:

Is that a kees van der westen? That's pretty much top of the line, commercial quality top of the line at that.

Yes, I bought that Kees Speedster in 2011 although it's in storage now. My friend also has one that is up and running beautifully. I stopped by yesterday at lunch for some straight shots from his machine and proceeded to "break" the dosers on the dueling Fiorenzato Doge Conicos*. This brain fart of mine delayed coffee service for nearly an hour. lol

Now, we both have a more intimate knowledge of that adjustable dosing mechanism.

*note -- He had the space to house mine, too, as a single-dose grinder if he gets the itch. Scored these babies brand-new for us at $1,100 off of retail. That deal helped soften the Speedster purchase pain for us both since we both desired a big conical to replace our planar grinders.

I was very fortunate with my grinder situation. I found a used mahlkonig k30 vario on Ebay for $600. It was missing some pieces, so I looked up the US office. Turns out it was 7 minutes from my work. The guy there was sooooo nice! He replaced over $800 worth of parts, grind chamber, burrs, both the small and large hopper and the grinds catch tray, all for FREE. So now I have a fully refurbished $1800 grinder, and it rocks. I've used some others, mostly mazzer, and nothing comes close.

Wow, we both scored quite a deal on our grinders. 1st-Line had these Fiorenzato Doge Conicos marked down from $1,899 to $700. Double-checked with my friend and quickly placed an order for 2 of the grinders. The very next day they raised the price up to $1,100.

I looked at the Mahlkonig K30 (along with many other grinders) but much preferred the grind profile of a titan conical to any form of planar grinder. My previous experience had been with a Mazzer Mini-e which paled in performance to the Doge in a taste test with the same blend of beans. I even tried a Mazzer Robur but realized that sucker was designed for high-volume cafes only; definitely doesn't belong in a home...a working ranch maybe.

Very nice! I had a Euopiccola but got rid of it because it was a too cumbersome. Great first shot but terrible if you have guests. Is the Elektra also a one shot wonder?

I am thinking of getting a new machine and forgetting about lever machines , maybe a Silvia.

    Thanks Mike!!!

Badgister, if I time it right, I've been able to pull 3 good shots in a row with out it being too hot.
I do believe this is a trade off for the lever machines to be honest. But the boiler can only hold about 5 shots anyway.

I've read some very great reviews about the Silvia. Let us know what you decide
