The OG bay rum with sandalwood is my favorite bay rum scent. I enjoy the lime peppercorn AS as well. Smells good and is a very different sensation than my preferred mentholated creams.

Ogallala Bay Rum is proving very popular in Australia, I think it is one of the top scents available, It is amazing how each scent varies, the wood ones really mellow it out, but I was super suprised how much I like the lime & peppercorn!
Maybe it's just me but the scent does not seem to last for ages like the "big brand" aftershaves/EDT/perfumes, I guess it is about the long lasting chemicals they use.

I've got the Ogallala Bay Rum with Sandelwood in the larger blue bottle. I can see the oils in it floating around. Says to shake well before using. When it was down a bit, I added about 3 drops of dish soap, some Ethyl Alcohol (EtOH) and a little bit of straight witch hazel. Now a shake makes the mixture cloudy, and that means it is emulsified, or more dispersed, in the liquid. Ogallala Bay rum consists of oils in a witch hazel base or carrier, Bay oil, oil of Clove Buds, Rosemary, Ginger, Orange extracts, Cinnamon, and leaf of Wintergreen. So, yes, it's going to smell like some concotion that reminds one of Christmas.
I think he needs to add an emulisifier to this main batch before bottling. It might improve the quality from bottle to bottle, as my small plastic samples bottles seem a bit different than the larger blue bottle I got. I liked the Bay Rum and Sandlewood in the small sample bottles better than I did in the large bottle. What I wish I had now was the Sage and Bay Rum. That really smells nice!
John Marquis comes from where I grew up. I met my wife at Ogallala, NE. I have relatives living in Ogallala, and it was the favored place to shop for us living in Oshkosh, NE just up the road some 30 miles, for such things as groceries, and discount stores there in Ogallala. One of those things that started out in the garage and then..... who knew!~~ Vern ~~
I was born with nothing and managed to keep most of it.

The wife picked me up a bottle of the Sage & Cedar for Father's day...and took advantage of the $1 bottle deal they had going too (original cologne only). BUT, when the package arrived it had three sample bottles in it (1oz) one of the original AS, one of Sandalwood, and one of Lime & Peppercorn. So I sort of ended up with a sampler pack after all.
I did NOT recognize the cologne scent, but it's a nice, slightly sweet scent. The lime & peppercorn has a nice light scent but I haven't tried it to see how the face likes it. The Sage and Cedar transported me back to the mountains of Oregon where I grew up. Sage grew wild all over the place and Cedar/Redwoods were more common than any other tree. That stuff I'm in love with. I have to fight off the temptation to put more on randomly throughout the day.
Thanks for cluing me in!

Definitely get a sample before you buy. I didn't.
I bought one of the 20oz bottles, thinking that if everyone here loved it, I probably will, too.
...no
I actually brought that bottle to the Kenosha meetup and gave it away having never used it. The clove scent just...didn't sit well with me. I loved how it felt, the warming A/S feeling ( I know because they did send the multiple, small sample bottles), but did not love the scent. Neither did my wife. Although, I did trade it away for some free honing services from Utopian, so it wasn't a complete waste!

Thanked: 3795After reading this thread I went to their web site and it seems that they no longer offer that large bottle. The only sizes I saw were 8 and 4 oz bottles. Is this a new development or did I just not look in the right place? I ask because I'm assuming that I will be buying more of this stuff.
