Thanked: 8Very nice A GP scuttle is on my Christmas wish list - for now I'm using a DIY version (smallish bowl slipped into a larger milkfrother jug). It fits perfectly, and works really well - just more difficult to assemble/disassemble, clean and put away than a real scuttle.

Ok so stupid noob question. How does it work and second I have a "beast" brush that is very nice but I can't get good lather from it. At least not thick rich lather any ways. I am sure there is a thread I should look at but I can't find it, like I said stupid noob question.
It's a beautiful day somewhere I hope!

No stupid questions. Not asking and suffering falls into that catagory . How it works. Its like a tea pot. with a bowl inserted into the center. If you google G20 Scuttle the website has a cut away image that provides a visual. Simple answer it just keeps your lather warm for the shave.
Now for lathering. 3 important steps.
1 soak brush bristles down in hot water for 3 minitues. or some variation. Principle soften and moisten bristles
2 Wet brush put not drowned. You can always thin out thick . Principle water filled brush cannot absorb soap. maximun saturation overload.
3 Start whipping , this aint fast food. Its going to take about 1 minute give or take. Principle aerate soap while not leaving large air bubbles. Think mixing vinegar and oil. As you go decide is this thick or watery? thick? add DROPS of water to top of bristles. Watery big fat soap bubbles? Whip longer and or drain off small amount of soupy soap.
All of this process of whipping can be done it a cup/bowl/scuttle/gravy boat. you can even choose to do the whipping on your WET face .Yes it softens and prepares your face for the main event.
Do not change more than one factor at a time. this will speed the learning curve of what needs to be adjusted.
Try this order of operation. If problems WE the community can troubleshoot/help and know where to start to get you to a great shave.
Questions are welcomed. Application of what everyone here taught me Priceless.Your only as good as your last hone job.

Ultrasoundguy I took your addvice and played with my new beast a bit this morning. It worked great after I figured out that I was doing it wrong in the first place. I kept the brush mostly dry after soaking and ran it over the MWF to get some soap then added water to it and used my big mug to make the lather just kept adding water till it looked like whipped cream and bam I got it. I have made more whipped cream than I care to remember and taught people how to do it as well I am a Certified Culinary Educator. any way thanks for all of the help.
