    Default I Don't Shower.......

    .........before shaving.
Am I the only one who doesn't take a hot shower before shaving?
The reason I don't is because I sweat like a pig easily and would be sweating profusely when I finished up with a hot shower. Hell, I sweat reading the newspaper.
I follow the routine I saw on Lynn's DVD, I throw some warm water on my face, followed by a hot towel for a couple of minutes. Then I lather up my face and put a hot towel on it again for another couple of minutes.
Usually by now I can see some sweat beading on my forehead. I shave WTG, and then ATG, and THEN I take a shower, turning the water cold at the end to close up the pores.

Dude, check your blood pressure or something. That ain't natural.

I usually shower before shaving but sometimes I don't. I just do a little extra prep if I don't. I make sure I use the face wash.

I sweat easily as well but I do everything at night.

I end my shower by slowly turning it to the cold side, this allows me to cool off some before getting out. Final rinse with semi-cold water is also pretty refreshing.

Right after I get out of the shower and dry off I go stand in front of a small fan that I have set up in my bedroom. I will stand in front of that for a while and then go prep my brush and soap.

I go back to the fan for a bit longer while whipping my lather, going back and forth to add more water when needed.

After standing there for about 5-10 minutes I am normally cool enough to go shave, plus the bathroom has had time to defog and cool down as well.

I always shave first, at least 99% of the time. I've always done it that way, and didn't see any reason to change when I switched to Straight razors. I do the Hot Towel myself, and a good prep. I even use a face scrub sometimes. I let the lather sit on my face while stropping, so I have no problems...

Living in Florida, Sweat is common. I too tend to take a colder shower, and adjust it down to just about pure cold water at the end...It is very refreshing, and cools down your body temp, I have a pedastal fan and a celing fan that I use to cool down as well......and of course Central AC...I think it's a law in Florida....

Well... I usually shave in the shower...

Working early mornings it's easier for me to shower at night and spend a few EXTRA minutes on the shave part...

As someone else said, cool down a little after the regular shower and go to bed.... Oh I sleep so much better,,,

Do you straight razor shave in the shower? The never shave naked recommendation/rule got me out of that habit.

My BP is fine, just had it checked yesterday.
I've always been like this, take after my mother's side of the family. My father barely ever sweats at all.

I will typically shower before I shave, but there are some times when I don't. I like to shower first because it makes the whole thing more enjoyable for me. But I don't think it's essential by any means. A thorough hot wash of the face seems just as effective for prep.

After trying the cold water shave, I now shave prior to the shower - to keep my skin on the cool side before/during shaving. Have been getting better shaves and my skin feels softer, for some reason. I am using hot water for the shower, but no longer am I trying to heat my face up, like I was before the cold shave.
