Thread: Can't see through the fog...

I have a small fan like what you see in a cubicle farm. Clips on to the top of my medicine cabinet. Turn it on when I get in the shower and even though it is a bit foggy when I get out, by the time I'm done building my later the mirror is all clear.

I just installed the most expensive exhaust fan I could afford. It is 110cfm and whisper quiet. Also, I installed it right over top of the shower stall. Poof - no more humidity in the loo!

Just leave the door cracked and a fan on.
If you are one of those people that shave in the shower (DE users mostly) and have the mirror in the shower that ALWAYS fogs, simply hit it with some of the after shower cleaner spray. Spray that on just as you start and by the time you lather up it will be clean and fog free.
Also, I have simply sprayed on Windex on my mirror prior to showering and/or after without wiping it off... same results as above.

Thanked: 1195I usually crack the door if no one is around. But since I mostly shave at night the wife and kids are home, so to keep my shave time private I close the door (also helps to keep the distractions to a minimum). Fog is most definitely an issue in that case. If you or your spouse have some canned foam or gel, spray some on the mirror and wipe it off. It actually works really well, and I've finally found a good use for the canned goo.

I have the same misty mirror problem and yes it is annoying. I could open a window or a door but as its winter down here all the cold air rushes in defeating the purpose of the hot shower beforehand and I would freeze myself. The bathroom however is a lot like a rainforest and I am actually using the mist and my hot showered body heat to keep my warm so I am considering a vent combined with a heat lamp to help solve the problem. In the meantime I rub clear liquid hand soap on the mirror and towel it off as much as I can which seems to solve the problem.

The joys of living alone...I leave the door open, and turn the exhaust fan on.

Thanked: 2I've tried the canned goo, the regular doesn't work. You have to use the stuff with menthol in it ( the green barbasol) and it works great for a good week. I smear it on and let it set for about five minutes then wipe it off with a paper towel. It's going to have a hazy like film left on the glass, but if you polish it in it's barely noticeable. I've also had one of the anti-fogging mirrors too, you can get the ones that you put in the shower with you. They loose their anti-fogging after a while though.

Thanked: 983You might also visit a bike shop to see if they have any anti-fogging spray used on the riders perspex visors. I've not used anything like it being a slow moving cruiser rider with a fetish for beetles in my teeth, but it might be worth a go if there's a bike shop nearby.
