Of course there is. It has to be rubbed in counterwise with an ostrich feather. Unless of course it is low tide, full moon, you ate pasta three days ago, or the ostrich is called Frodorick, in which case you have to take a birch twig, soak it in AS for a forthnight and smoke it like a incense.

Or you could be a heretic and slap it on, splash it on, spray it on, or rub it on (I usually wet my hands and face with water so it is easier). Try it out yourself and choose what suits you better, mate!

Are these for the northern or southern hemisphere? I know the toilets flush differently, maybe the rotation is different in OZ?

The only thing I've ever heard about aftershaves is that the faster you can get them on your face after shaving, the better off you'll be. I'm not sure that this is true, but by my logic it does make some sense. After all, applying aftershave 12 hours after shaving won't do too much...

When it comes to the actual application method, I think it's just a question of what works best for you. I have heard, however, that slapping the skin can help increase blood flow, which will cause your face to heal from the micro-damage of shaving... or something like that. Normally I just rub it in and then give myself a nice pat down.

the only thing I find slapping helps against is it decreases the burning sensation.

Old time barbers would always slap it on. I think if he though you would give him a little tip you'd get slapped alot harder.

Went to an old-timey barber a month ago. He used aftershave on me called "foo foo." Don't know anything about it. But, my recommendation is that if you are applying aftershave, and it is "foo foo", DON'T!

In Australia it is generally recommended that one use a similar rotation to the northern hemisphere, however it is also recommended to use an emu feather instead of an ostrich feather. But Australians being who we are, we tend to ignore advice and just do what we think is right.
