    Default Moustache Wax

What are everyone's favourite moustache waxes?
Today my Mr. Natty's Moustache Twizzle wax came in the mail and I do enjoy it much better than Clubman's wax.
I'm very curious as to what everyone's thoughts are!

(If this is the wrong place for this, please feel free to move it to the proper location and message me so that I know! I looked around and this seemed to be the closest fit. After all, wax is necessary equipment for some and it is indeed something that you do after you shave! Perhaps we need a moustache corner? Or perhaps there is one and I just have't found it!)

I just got a product called "Stache Bomb" wax, and the logo on the tin is a pinup model riding a bomb with a mustache. After reading the product discription on their website - "...Inspired by a bygone era filled with mustachioed aviators like Howard Hughes, Stache Bomb Stacy adorns the tin like noseart on a bomber...", I was sold. I like to think this is what Colonel Robin Olds (the guy in my avatar pic) would have used had it been available! Holds very well and has a nice christmas-y scent.

When I grew out my moustache, I bought a little tin of Firehouse Moustache Wax and found that to be rather good.

I'm no expert on moustache wax, though. I trimmed that moustache too. Sometimes I think of growing it again but I can't be bothered and I probably looked silly with it, although it has been immortalised as the photo in my Genbukan membership book...I may have a digital copy somewhere.

Now I have a tin of moustache wax amongst my shaving things. I'm sure someone's been using it up lately; the funny thing is that no one else in the family has a moustache...

When I had my handlebar, I made my own wax. Two parts beeswax, one part vaseline and a little lanolin. Worked great.
Nightblade, MickR, 32t and 2 others like this.

I have another commercially bought wax whose only 3 listed ingredients are the ones you mentioned, so you must have been on to something...

Can anyone offer me any tips on applying wax? My current problem is that whenever I wax my moustache, I end up pulling out hairs! It doesn't hurt...they just come out.
I keep the tin in my pocket to keep it warm but I find it STILL pulls too much.
    Any tips?

Robin Olds was an incredible pilot. The only guy ever to shoot a plane down while deadstick.

But you know he was a general, right? He didn't retire as a colonel.

Oh yes, I am familiar with his bio, he is buried at my Alma Mater. Did you read his memoir? If you haven't, I highly recommend it! He lived a fascinating life and was a true aviation legend. I called him Colonel in my post because he shaved his moustache off as soon as he made 1-star.

    Cheers,

You could try a couple of things... first off, try wetting your moustache first so that the wax thins itself as you apply it. Try using a comb to evenly distribute the wax through the length of the 'stache. Also, try different brands, some are thicker, some are more pliable, depends on the mix of ingredients of that particular wax. I find stache bomb to be have a bit less hold than other brands, while "Hndlbars" brand is a bit stiffer. Trial and error makes it more fun in my opinion.
