Thanked: 24Two modern production Silver Steel 6/8s. I really enjoy these razors and they were among the first in my collection. I started to feel round points were a bit boring, so I had Alfredo convert one to a Spanish point and rescale it in Walnut. I sourced crotch cut Walnut off Ebay, but it needed to be lined with g10 for stability. I picked white g10 and silver washers and pins to finish off the new look.
Cheers,
Brian

Thanked: 0Unknown Boker?
I posted about my new Boker on another thread, thanks to 10pups for suggesting I try the Boker club thread for info. And it was some great advice. There are some great razors here- I am learning a lot just looking through these posts. Thanks to all for sharing your razors.
For some reason my photos will not attach to the thread, so until I solve that I am limited to description. To copy from the first thread post:
I was going to resist posting about the razor I got for Christmas, but since I've been looking at all these great finds and gifts many of you have posted about, you've changed my mind. So here goes: I've wanted a vintage razor for a long time to restore and use for my regular shaver. A family member gave one as my Christmas gift, and I am intensely curious to know more about its history. It seems nothing I do will turn up any remarks, references, photos, or even a mention for this razor. That's mighty curious, isn't it, considering this is a Boker? There must be more out there somewhere, right? But so far, I can't even find anything on eBay about it. I did send an email to Boker pleading for anything they can tell me, but I expect if they ever decide to respond it may be a while. I am sure this is not a top priority. But anyway, I would be very grateful if anyone out there can tell me anything about this piece, or even point me in a direction where I can look for more myself.
This one came from a local barber shop. There's a guy there that finds them and resells them out of a display case. That's all we know. It needs some TLC, I am going to attempt a good polish and clean, and then send it off to someone for more delicate work on the blade. There are a few small dings on the cutting edge. Not sure if it is enough for grinding, but it certainly will need some experienced sharpening work.
On the front of the blade, it says "President" surrounded by some scrollwork type etching. The tang is stamped "H.Boker & Co. No.1586" with the tree logo and "Germany" on the reverse. It is clearly an old piece, and the blade has a very solid ring when you flick the corner with a thumbnail.
Many thanks to everyone for sharing your razors and knowledge. I have benefitted greatly as I enter this new shaving world.

Thanked: 4206Welcome Ed. The tree logo itself on the tang will help date your boker.
My first straight was, and is a Boker Adonis.
Their vintage stuff rivals any of the great names, IMO.
Enjoy the shaves, and post up some pics when you can.

Thanked: 0Thank you, MikeB- I believe I have the photo problem licked...here are a few pics of the piece I mentioned. Also thanks to another poster who replied to this post on the Razor forum, I was able to find a chart for the logo dates which puts mine in the 1925-34 era- assuming I read it correctly!

Thanked: 127Just received my 7/8" Boker with a Blade made from the typical Bismarck Blanket.
I dont know if they were quit usual or part of the regular program as i didnt saw such a Boker before.
It shaves perfect and is a razor of that kind, when you have it, you dont need another razor, i love it and i guess, the days of my Bismarck are counted.

only Boker in my collection still need work. Only pulled the crushed scales so far.
A chip in the heal and the point is curved up a little. Hoping I can straighten it up without loosing a lot of patina. Don't want to polish it too much as the etching is very nice still. Think I figured it to be around 1910. Most-likely will go with a dark wood for the scales. It's just Sharpening, right?
