Phil, you don't want to unpin that one if you don't have to. The 3 pin setups are a little more difficult to get back together but not impossible. You just have to be patient. I have so far made 203 three pin type scales for straights I have. I have a ton of nickel silver rod because a guy was selling some awhile back & the stuff I was buying was soft & easy to bend even by just tapping but this stuff is perfect. I bought a pound of it which was around 18-20 three foot lengths & it was so good that he only had a few left so I bought on more pound & now I have enough to last a long time. My friend brought me some brass rod from the shop he works at. I buy my collars at Micro Fasteners for brass & the stainless from there is too big but I found a place to get the tiny stainless from. Please feel free to get in touch with me if you need to. Some Spiderwire fishing string is some tough stuff & it is so tough I used it for different things including removing tank emblems off Harley's when I used to turn wrenches on them at a dealer for re-use. You could try some of that with some polishing compound on it like they use for lapping valves which you can get at an auto parts store. I bet that would be better for the rust removal. You can also use a razor blade very carefully to get most of it off. Sending you a pm.

Gentlemen, I started out with a Boker King Cutter new production 5/8. It was a great razor, but I passed it on and found 6/8 razors. Ever since then I've been looking for a vintage Boker in good condition. Lost out to a fair few on the Bay!! One of you is currently hitting me against the ropes on an older 6/8 Boker on the Bay in great condition. I do now have a Boker King Cutter 15/16 coming in the post. I don't think it is that old, stamped with Tree Brand Arbolito on one side and with the newer Boker Tree logo on the other side. I imagine it is 1970s or something. However, it is a big old razor, and looking forward to rejoining this club!

Well, I wasn't expecting it to arrive so quickly!!!! Arrived by post today. I imagine this is a post 1970s razor. It is big and hefty. Some superficial rust which I am planning on leaving well alone. Do you agree? Unfortunately a bit of it impinges on the gold wash, but that can't be helped. No hone wear that I can see!

Very nice gary. I just honed up a 1920's 30's edelweiss I got off the bay, it's a very nice shaver.

Found this link on their Web page. I had seen one floating around this forum that helped me date mine but couldn't find it.

    Default Boker Wedge

Here's another Boker I just picked up at an antique place in the city I'm in. I've never seen a Boker wedge before, but now I own one! It will end up being 5/8" after it's honed down because of the nicks in the blade. I'm also not sure about the handles being original as well, as they don't have a separate spacer like I usually see. Instead spacer is built into the scales directly, half of the spacer on one scale, and half on the other... I don't think the pics will show that part, but the scales are pretty bad off, so I may just end up making some new ones for it instead, maybe the red oak ones I have sitting around, and an ebony spacer...

Just picked up two more Bokers from an antique dealer. Ones just a pretty basic King Cutter, but it's in generally very good condition. No rust, little hone wear, a very slight smile, and the gold wash is fully intact. The back scale has a crack at the hinge pin, but I think that should be fixable.

The second is definitely an older razor from what I can tell. I think it was originally a square point, but the toe probably got a crack in the tip and it was rounded out. I'm not sure about that though, as it was a very good job that was done to round the tip, very smooth and evenly done. It's very tarnished, but no rust or pitting on the blade (a bit on the jimps). The scales are tight, but are a bit warped or mismatched as they don't line up together. Very little hone wear (less than the cutter actually) and again I think there's a slight smile in the blade.

    Both are full hollow grinds.
