Thanks Stefan. I think I like the 8000 better. That long swooping tail with the curved scales is gorgeous. Is it Jaime that had a custom one made? I remember seeing someone with a custom one, but can't find it now.

Are they tortoise shell scales stock?

Jaime, has Ali Blades version of the 8000.
The stock scales are faux tortoise shell acrylic for the Hoshitombo

Sweet looking blade. The scales are also beautiful.

Thanks. It shaves great, yet is quite scale-heavy. This is 'outer' pearl. You can feel it.
Only way to lighten it is with some off the inside and thinner liners. Won't happen!

What the heck? It looks nice. Tight pivot! Kick the scales back a bit and have at it!

So those are not like the sandwiched paua shell available from Masecraft for example?

Oh, no. This is natural pearl. Done a fair ways back by a bloke I don't think I know. Well-done.

You are right I have the 8000 came to me NOS and I liked it so much I made a exact drawing plus all the measurements and small details, I then sent them to Cedric of Ali's blades he then made me a clone only difference he used 500 layer hand forged San Mai Damascus a faux Tortoiseshell scales, I also have another NOS Hoshitombo a first edition 6500, and as Stefan said they are quarter hollow 13/16.
