Update of my Vitry Frères case :

Changed the all-metal razor (that was previously in) for a Thinet, the enterprise that bought Vitry Frères in the late 1800.

Was it originally a surgeon's case?

I recently acquired this set. They are all in remarkable condition, ivory scales and original finish. None of them show any signs of use. I now nothing about the manufacture except for the obvious made in Sheffield. No England stamp so they likely predate 1890. They are very nice. My wife is a little annoyed as I had promised to reduce my numbers. I think it is very clear that I need to sell something else as these appear to be a fairly remarkable find.

Yes, the set can be seen page 16, with more pictures and the original razor (sadly it was too heavy to shave with..)

Scienceguy, this shagreen set is fabulous. One of my dreams yet to fulfill.

    Thank you for sharing !

The W&H is really unusual too.

Beautiful blade, interesting to see a razor like this posted, I've been looking for a razor exactly like that for awhile now.....fantastic restoration, and "ancient steel" is a great description, I can bet it is sweet on the face. Well done!
