Very nice razor, but unfortunately the trademark Harwood & co was registered in 1801. The second razor "warranted" in my opinion doesn't fall into the timeline of this thread. Not to take anything from them they are stunning, light restoration, honed properly use and enjoy them.

Aha! Thanks for that. That one will bump down the line. Thank you for the correction.

Not a problem at all. I"ll love them just the same. I have a few french razors that I'll post pics of that I hope will make the pre-1800 grade. I have been aware that finding razors from the 1700's is tough. If it turns out that none of mine fit the bill........well, I'll have a great excuse to keep on looking! Thanks for your opinion.

Ok with these three French Old Timers I am all in. I have none others that would qualify for this thread. So here goes...

First, a classic french style with manicured spine.

Second a dip-at toe unknown maker...might not even be french. Ideas?

Third, a rescaled stub tail French Razor

Do you have a link to the source? I had been trying to find records of Harwood but don't recall being able to find documents.

Moonbow, the first one looks like a real contender, but cant make out the name on there?
2 nd razor looks English, a close up pic of tang might help.
3rd razors looks like a French no tail from mid to late 1800's.

The second one I'm sure is English from around the 1780s +/- based on other examples. I don't recognize the mark off the top of my head though.

    Here are a few close-ups.
    The first Razor reads "BERGER"

The second, dip-at-toe razor, is very difficult to decipher.
