It is what it is. I would bet it is a fun shaver. I love my shorties. If I may, the scales need to be shortened and reshaped at the pivot end, redrilled, and made to fit the blade. THAT would be neat, I think.
If you want to send it over sometimes, I can do it for you.Last edited by sharptonn; 04-04-2015 at 03:04 AM.

I rest my case.

It was an 8/8, but had a slight frown so now a bit under. Was surprised when the original coffin box came with it as well. This blade is also longer at 4 1/8" from toe to heel. Noticeably longer than one of my Filly #14's.
The scales are very thick and sturdy and are a dark burgundy colour, very nice
I've honed it up, passes all the normal tests except the most important one, the shave test, which will be tomorrow. If it doesn't pass, it goes out to Valery at the Gentleman's Den for some expert honing, not the type of razor I want to experiment on too much. I used one layer of tape.

The sole surviving 14 in the den (a Palmera is on the way), this thing is incredible. Bought it from Noah (TucoRamirez) about a year ago, the best edge I've experienced to date.

Thanks - the shave was sublime, starting to get the hang of this honing thing, of course until I try the next one!
I had a Filly #14 standing by in case I crashed and burned on the honing.
I have to say though, after the shave, I was looking at the Filly #14, then had a look at my Palmera #14, and the Henckels #14, and the way they shave and feel, RobinK may be on to something if not correct regarding where they were made, the similarities of the blades are nothing short of remarkable.
I always try to keep an open mind, and having three different manufactured blades now, all #14's, definitely lends some serious credence to a common manufacturer....at the very least, it is intriguing.
