Thanked: 3Too Many Razors!
Hi my name is Guy and I'm a RADaholic.
I've only been in the hobby of straight razors for 6 months or so and just keep buying straight razors up to something like 30 now.
The problem with having so many is I don't have a chance to really get intimate with any of them. So I think I'm going trim my collection down to 7. If I see one I really want then I will have to sell one. I have so much stuff now DE Razors and blades, Straights, Soaps, Creams, Aftershaves, Strops, Hones it fills four drawers of a dresser not to mention what I have stuffed in my bathroom!
I'm interested to hear how other people bring it under control.
Thanks
Guy

First off, your title is sacrilege!
For me a number of things happened. I have become more refined in my tastes and as a result they have become much more expensive. That effectively put the brakes on. Besides I started with the commitment that I would shave with all of them regularly and bought appropriate storage (a fountain pen case). As it approaches full, I will have to be even more selective and then keep the herd managed through selective culling.

My name is Souschefdude, and I have a problem.
I keep telling myself I have enough, but then I buy another. (Just bought three Red Points this week, now I gotta complete the 7 day set)
I cannot help you, except to buy your razors, which won't help me.
Help.

Thanked: 19We all suffer from this disorder - there is no escape from it!
I've been shaving with straights for less than a year - I ceased buying when I got to 7. But then very shortly afterwards my honing skills increased sharply, and I've always had good practical skills, so the inevitable path was razor restoration. Result? Ebay!!!! My razor expenditure during the last two months has been shocking. I've made some of it back, through purchase, restoration and resale. But I've kept some lovely razors for myself - and over the next couple of weeks when I finish the 4 razors I'm currently working on (3 are keepers, and 1 will be sold) I will have a functioning collection of 14.
I promise myself that will be it for a while...I fear I may be lying!

I haven't even counted all mine, but I am pretty sure I could have a 52 week set.
I have about 20 in rotation at the moment.

Life is good when your main problem is having too many of the things you like. lol.
Most of us are probably with you on that one.
I get around it by only choosing what I think is really special to me; and when I find something special I prove it to myself by using it solely.
I've used the same Simpson brush everyday for the last 4 and a bit years. I have others, and I would love to buy a few more, but every time I do use another I feel I'm missing out on my favourite.
Much the same with my razors. I use the same tired old Bengall everyday. I've collected plenty of others since I began, some are really outstanding, but I love the way it cuts the hair, and the feel of my face afterwards, so I don't like to change.
I personally enjoy knowing that my favourite shaves come from a cheap old razor, and that hiding in the cupboard are some real beauties should I ever wish to mix it up.I love the smell of shaving cream in the morning!

I'm not sure if I can help you since I don't have that issue yet, but if you want to send me 23 of your "surplus" razors I'm sure that would be a step in the right direction to getting your "problem(?)" under control.
