Recently I noticed there is not much worth buying on eBay. Either I have all the junk razors I need, or all the premium razors I can afford.

Perhaps they have just been at this a bit longer, Don't judge prices, condition, or availability by the standards of today most of those razors of Tim's in the link above are NOS or Mint and he was just one of the guys at that Meet
Just 4 short years ago things were very different, let alone 6 or 7 years ago, and some of us have been at this for many more years then that...
Go search out a old member named "Traveler" he had 1000's of Mint NOS Sheffield steel sitting in boxes waiting to be Scaled up..
You really want to see those pics and you really do not want to know what he paid for them..
There go drool

Too Many Razors!
Agreed- if you got in to this years ago before the price spiked the. You've prob got some nice stuff. There's an exception to every rule- and for every one guy that has been around and bought alot when the market in razors were cheap there are an ever growing # of new users who are buying junk at an alarming rate for a premium price- supply an demand sure- but alot if these 'new guys' (i think i still kinda fit in to that catagiry sjnce u havent been at it for 20 years) who claim RAD and obsessively purchase, some of which haven't even perfected shaving techniques, junk razors- why I don't know. Personally in too poor to but a razor with 2/8 of hone ware that has devil spit. My money must be reserved for better specimens
Of course I say this respectfully. If your in to collecting and it's all about the number of razors you have that's cool, if that your thing.
So to mod my general rule bellow we can add rule D) you started collecting before 'the rest of us'
And thanks for the links- holy smokes that's some collection!......... Making Old Razors Shine N' Shave, Once Again.

Oh I can see how this grand endeavor of ours can lead to RAD (and every other goodie acquisition disorder regarding all the aspects). How to get it under control?? SWMBO has picked up the slack and fills that role; nicely and with sweet tones using the phrase I've used with her when she used to tell me about the shoes, dresses et al that she bought on sale:
We're going broke due to all the money you're saving!!Malo periculosam libertatem quam quietum servitium

Thanked: 20It won't be easy, that's for sure.
You might be able to minimize post-sale regret by using the razor you are planning to sell for several shaves, so that you can at least say you gave it a chance.
Good luck. You'll need it.

I don't have RAD but when I saw the title of this thread "I've got too many razors" I instantly figured I could help this poor gentleman out by relieving him of his extra razors.
But I don't have RADS.L.A.M.,.......SHAVE LIKE A MAN!!!
Not like a G.I.R.L. (Gentleman In Razor Limbo)

RAD check...I have been diligently archiving all correspondence regarding my razor related purchases. Saturday evening I finally decided to make up a spreadsheet with all the details of my acquisitions, including their costs original and any additional costs of required maintenance. Seeing the sordid details in black and white gave me a firm data point to reference when I see anything razor related I think I might want.
Additionally, I have a list on which to make notes about what I like or don't about each razor. I decided to sell off my less favored steel. If I can maintain the collection with the current sunk costs, life will be good.

I actually refrained from bidding on a DD Special 1 today, even though the price was reasonable. I may be on the way to recovery.
One thing that is helping is that I just bought 2 more cigar boxes, added a shelf to each, a loaded in my current stock of razors in need of restoration. I usually can do one in a week (I only get to work at it an hour or 2 a day). I also usually have a razor belonging to someone else in my possession to work on. This means I only restore 1 a month for myself. At that rate I have enough to last for at least 3 years. Unless I see one I REALLY gotta have, I am done.
Now I gotta go check eBay to see if they have any I really need.
