I'm up to 18 razors now, and after chugging down razors for a couple of months, have now refined my taste to a point where the type of razor I want requires me to actually save up some, rather than push the shiny button like a deranged monkey and wait for the tasty razor to drop into my food bowl, sorry, I mean razor collection!

Also, finding the razors I like takes a bit more time as well, and a lot more attention to the condition of them as well....right now I'm on the search for a GB Iron Cross and a certain type of frameback...

The easiest way to control rad is by falling in to a nitch, and committing to not buying junk.
By 'specializing' to will find you become more passionate about your collection.

For one I control RAD by
    1) being married
    2) 'specializing' in the following
-GR & WR era Sheffield and earlier
    -unusual grinds in Sheffield blades
    -uncommon/Rare/ early W&B
    -Tillotsons and early pre-Shefworks greaves
----- all above with the disclaimer that whatever I buy MUST be restorable to 8/10 condition or better. If its not a 8/10 or better its not in my collection. Period.

There are too many beautiful razors out there to collect stuff in sub par condition, IMO of course.

    Hi Lonerider

I usually bs myself into saying ok only a 7 day set and then two 7 day set and then I will sell one if I buy one and then I'll buy and buy and....
I guess I will let you know when I get into a successful razor rehab program.

Now soaps, creams, aftershaves, colognes.... that's a different story lol

I've looked at a nice 7 day TI set, the more I thought about it, the more drawbacks I saw, for me at least.

You're pooched if you lose or damage a razor...would be no shaving for that day...forever!

And then you would have to shave with the same razor, just with a different day on it...forever! And what if Tuesday's razor was nicer than Friday's...suddenly you operantly condition yourself to hate Fridays!?!

And if you make a 7 day set with a bunch of different razors...well then...isn't it just using a bunch of different razors everyday??

I'll say it again...this is a tough place!

I think 7 is a good number, no i'd never want 7 identicals (it'd be like marriage-forsaking all others), prefer to "develop" a 7-day rotation from the "more than seven" i now own. But then i don't shave daily.

At least until i get a clearer picture of what grinds/steels/edges I prefer. And with the options available, and my non-daily shaving, this may take a while.

MOF, i often use a second razor for "clean up" when going for a really nice shave. "RNS"
