Hi Stefan,
エース is ACE, maybe the brand name.
舶耒 should be 舶来、hakurai, meaning imported. 鋼 is the well know "hagane" kanji :)
So basically it says "imported steel"

Hello Everyone.
I hope I am in the right thread. I would need some help to identify these 2 stones. If I am in the wrong thread I would appreciate the right one.
ThanksAttachment 221710Attachment 221711
I just picked this up and I don't have a clue. The 5th and 7th character or kanji seem to be the same. Other than that..... Please if someone could help I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
Hi Tom, sorry for my huge delay.
I have something interesting for you. Actually only the first front/back part.
It is something mr Yamamoto wrote.
And sound so very japanese! :)
"Tosa no Kochi no Harimabashi de...
... Shigoto hitosugi ni ikiru. Nintai"
"In Tosa (prefecture), Kochi (city), Harimabashi I go straight in my job. I'll do my best or I will be patient"
Hope to help also with the rest of the kanji.
Oh and let's say "thank you" to my friend Taro-san ;)
Hi Steel,
what we have is is "Hitachi Yakinamashi steel"
"Annealing/tempered steel from Hitachi"
Is the first time I read the word annealing.
According to Taro shoud be a tempering tecnique which doesn't involve water to cool the steel. So basically after the steel becomes hot, it cools by itself, meaning no water, only air and time.
If anyone knows what I am talking about and has better informations, please let us know.
Thank you! :)
Oh, That is great, Arsenico! I was worried I had given you too much at once! :)
Interesting what you found that Yamamoto put upon his strops.
Certainly he was a very conscientious individual by the workmanship in the strop covers and the way the strops were maintained. Old, well-used with no damage whatsoever. Rubbing the hand down them is amazing.
Thank You and I look forward to any other news! :bow
Tom
A big thanks to Taro-San too :) :tu
Yesterday i got maybe the oldest of my Kamisoris, the Seller called it Minoru, could that be?

Not sure if this is the right thread for this question, but here it goes. I picked up this razor today, and need some assistance with the markings on the blade. Looks like a Tillitson Sheffield, but even the spelling there looks different than usual. Please assist with identifying the marks if possible. Thanks!

That is a Shefffield-made Tillotson with fake Chinese writing upon the blade.
Lots of Sheffield makers did that....Was in fashion for a while back in the day.

(You owe me one, Arsenico!:roflmao)
Hello -

The England Steel is an Inoue Tosuke Razor :-)
Can anyone help me with this one? :

Please help me with these kanji. Thank you in advance.
2858 would be the razor number. The circle is the brand mark "Maru San". Next to it is the name Iwasaki.
No idea on the second picture.
Onimaru55 is there anywhere I can go to find out what these other kanji mean or am I just out of luck? Again thank you in advance.
The last kanji means "steel" . Not sure on the first and kanji.
Thank you Mainaman an Thank you Onimaru55 very helpful an very quick responses.
No probs.
Do you have any Chinese or Japanese restaurants nearby ? It's likely legible by both races.
Or you could scan through the forum & see if someone owns one here:

Hello! It means carbon steel! ;)
Working on a possible trade, and was trying to get some information on this razor. Not sure how to even look up anything on the brand/ maker. Any help would be appreciated.

It should be a 東和 - TOWA. Nice razors. I can't see the 3rd kanji.
I haven't had a great feeling with these frameback though.
How about some info on the Kanji on this tang, know it's an Iwasaki, but that's about it:

Good luck. Arsenico is usually pretty awesome at translating..

I bought a razor from Japan and it came wrapped in this paper. Can you tell me what it says?

Hi Mrchick,
it's nihon kamisori, japanese razor, in a hanwriting style.
