Thanked: 23What made this razor worth $300?
I was following the auction of this razor.
I found it to be visually very attractive and it, for some reason, seemed very old.
It ended up selling for close to $300 - does anyone what it was? I couldn't find anything just searching for the key words in the ad.

Don't know, nice looking razor,I'm more worried about possible cell rot.
Being tortoise shell, and not seeing the other side of the razor puts a flag up for me JMO.Mike

There is a segment out there who don't really care about the razor it's the scales that matter.

I very much like the razor and those scales. But not enough to drop that kind of coin on it.

I would guess that some one or two really liked it and wanted it for there collection. When it comes to the older razors or new ones as far as that goes it's about what some one wants. I have seen razors sell for next to nothing that I thought should have gone for more and razors that I thought was not worth that much sell for a lot. not long ago I bid on a wosty that had broken scales and some rust. I was looking at blade only. I think I bid up to 40.00 dollars and the razor sold for 135.00 dollars and to me it was just a blade. I think it was last year I saw a reconditioned razor cant remember the name but it was an old Sheffield and it sold for almost 1200.00 dollars. You just cant tell these days.

Thanked: 4827Just as soon as I get the logic and reason figured out on razors sales I will let everyone in on the secret...

Just a few guys that really wanted the razor, for whatever reason, and were ready to pay for it
I wouldn't look into anything rational or logical behind it
It just happens, sometimes people get carried away and go with it, little bidding war
