Oh man.. I had planned on making baleen scales. Thought it had been done.. ? I've seen other things made from baleen which lead me to believe it was indeed possible if not done already.
Why would it not work? I don't have experience with it or the knowledge necessary to make a statement either way..

Thanked: 98Ebay had a set of baleen scales on an old french Wedge, two razors sold as lot, they were thought to be Horn, Not so as I recognized the baleen right away, so yes it has been done, many times over. Lots of Alaskan baleen and walrus ivory on old straights up there.
Pixelfixed, have you ever worked baleen? I tried to find a baleen substitute, that is hard to do as black lexan polishes like it but does Not have the chatoyance nor the Strength of baleen, wish I had a chunk here to photo for you guys.
Jemmo, have you ever been on the Ramanon knife site? There was a Gemmo there? He is from Sweden too.

I have a remeau sens yonne that the scales seemed to be based on pictures to be baleen. They had broke at pivot. Gonna rescale it its an 8/8 rattler grind, a beauty. Anyway, they were the most flexible natural scale material I've ever seen. So I assumed...
I forgot about it. This thread reminded me.
If anyone can elaborate I'd be grateful.
