    Default Never used

I bought 2 razors which the seller got from an estate sale in Sheffield. He states that they have never been used. My question is if I use them would that lower the value of the razors. They are a James Barber of Sheffield and a Kropp 8/8?
    Would you use them ?

I really think it would. It's only new once after it's honed and shaved with it's used. but whether it makes a different depends on you. I have 4 razors that are used but I want hone them and use them. I want to keep them just to look at. Crazy you know.

Not crazy at all . I have several display units and I too like looking at them.

This is a topic I've seen a few times over the years and IIRC more guys are in the use camp than in the keep it NOS camp. I've had some vintage Solingens that I kept as new and couldn't bring myself to use. Still do as a matter of fact. Being able to list a razor as NOS is certainly going to increase whatever value, but if the condition is fine, and the razor is super cool, or one of the 'cult status' razors, than it will still bring a decent buck. IMHO.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I don't like the idea of straight display pieces, but that is just me. In my mind, they were made to be used! I do have several razors that are on display but they are all shave ready and have been used for special occasions

That NOS WorldMaster 24mm I sold awhile ago....guy said he collected NOS razors, and had no intention of ever honing it....whatever floats your boat as they say....:-)

I'm not a collector or care about resale value, so I say use those puppies.
