Thread: What is your most rare straight razor?

If the horn is delaminated that’s difficult to fix If it’s just dried out soak the scales in neatsfoot oil or slather it on thick and let it sit.

This razor came to me as a bare blade, I've just finished making the black horn scales and honing it.
I've searched all the directory listings and can't find a Brown & Tompkins, Sheffield. I'm guessing they may have been retailers but where ??
The scales are my guess as to what it had when new, but with out the originals or any reference to another it's pure guesswork.

Looks like a great job done on those scales.

Is there a lever on the top of the spine to cam lock the blade securely in place. The French did that.

That is pretty rare, I think!

A very cool item for certain, and likely not many good examples around.

No lever,the blade just slides into a brass groove.The blade is in there nice and snug and I have shaved with the razor before realizing how uncommon they are and how it would not survive being dropped.A few months after finding this one,I found another.
