Bartmann is a good razor. Yours has some condition issues. I could recommend having it disassembled and cleaned-up. The blade etch should be preserved.
The rust and pitting on the edge needs to go. Some honing will be required to get past that.
The scales may be deteriorating. The gases they put out will cause the blade to rust. Box is from another razor.
Are you going to shave with it or display?
Thank you for your kind words. Since I am reluctantly going through my fathers possessions because my mom has to move, I will keep an eye out for the proper box if he has it. There may be a few other razors also. Now that you guys have explained this to me , I think I would like to get it in working order. I am my fathers daughter, so I have no need to use this razor personally, but maybe my son (18yrs old) will appreciate it someday. Until then I can keep it for display and it will keep me close to my dad with a good memory.

If your son would be interested in learning this age old art. I will pay for the restoration including shipping to and from the restorer of my choice ( he's very good).

You will find that if you click on cudarunner (In Orange) that you can then send me a 'PM' which will allow you to send me a message.

    Please do so.

If you decide that the razor should only be displayed then perhaps you might get some idea from this:

Cuddarunner is a honest and kind person that has helped many people and would never do you wrong. Thanks Roy for the fine offer. I hope she takes you up on it. A young man shaving with a straight from his grandfather would be a wonderful thing.

If you find he wants to learn to use it be sure to send him to us. We will be happy to get him started the right way.
    It's just Sharpening, right?

Roy.....I am beyond humbled by your offer....I really can’t even imagine how I could be this fortunate to find people that care about other people. I wish my dad was doing this with me....He would have loved this....it is something we never talked about....I didn’t see his razor until 2 nights ago when I was separating his tools in his workshop....I knew he had the strop since I was born, it hung down in our barbershop/hair salon in the basement.....I want to learn and I want my son to learn as well....thank you for giving me faith ....Kathy

The razor is on it's way to an Exclusive Straight Razor Spa Resort in the boonies of Northern Idaho where it can relax and be refreshed and feel like it did years ago when it was young and in it's prime.

Cudarunner make sure to post the pic of the finished product. The guys on SRP are amazingly helpful and generous and wont lead you astray. Leadmeknot, you could easily shave legs with a straight too! Videos on youtube to show you how its done.

Thanks Cudarunner for keeping the bar of conduct so high. You are a good man.
