I have a brush with a swastika on it, handle appears to be celuloid, unfortunately it isn't in the same condition as your razor. Although I don't hold with Hitler's agenda, the razor's, brushes etc etc from that era are a part of history, and destroying them would be like trying to act like nothing ever happened.
For a bit of trivia:
The swastika was a native american symbol pre-Hitler, but they stopped using it due to the negativity associated with Hitler's use of it.

Thanked: 4The same symbol is (always has been) used in some chinese temples but for the life of me I cannot remember what it signifies. I want to say "luck" but I'm not sure now what I was told.
Things only have the meaning we give them... otherwise they mean nothing.

Thanked: 369Uh, guys...if you'll look at the pic of the razor again, it also has the name of and an illustration of Hitler. Not just a swastika.
Maybe no offense meant, but some things just should not be kept. (Edit: some things - names and images of mass or serial murderers for instance, are just inherently offensive regardless of intent).
Again, just my opinion.

Thanked: 1Although I completely share honedright's view of the Nazis and Hitler and the evil for which they stood, I would love to have a razor like that. I would have no problem shaving with it. The same would go for a razor with Stalin's picture with a hammer and sickle.
Unless we are buying new razors, all the razors with which we shave are also pieces of history. Many of them were manufactured in Germany during the 1930s. One's use of such tools is by no means an endorsement of what was happening in the time and place of their origin.
That being said, one would be unreasonable not to respect some people's feelings to the contrary. Hitler, the Holocaust, and the surrounding events are very emotional issues.

I'd keep it...
1) It's a straight in a good condition
2) It has a historical significance
History should never be forgotten. We have to remember what they did in hopes of not repeating it too many times.

Thanked: 4I had to read it twice too... you are reading it right...
I dont think he was talking about WW2 specifically... history through does seem to have a way of repeating itself... we're not always quick to learn.
The 72million who died during WW2 tell us that we learned little from WW1 or the many many conflicts before it.
Hitler was certainly a madman... but he hasnt been the only one... he hasnt even been the worst.
We're still inflicted with individuals with intentions like his and we still seem to take a long time to respond to them.
Just my thoughts on what Firestart actually meant...
